There is no Gucci in The Middle Prince...

When I'm writing I like my mood music.

Writing The Middle Prince I listened to the folk music of Romania (mostly), Bulgaria and Turkey, some Romanian popular music (very like the folk music) and even a few stanzas of Orthodox Church music.

The mood music that lingers on though is the song "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead. The lyrics don't fit exactly (no, there really is no Gucci in The Middle Prince) but the alienation, the isolation and the underlying sense of brooding psychosis matched the development of the boy Ladoslav into the man Vlad.
